About Me

I am a MAIS student with a focus in writing and new media. I am a parent to a beautiful daughter, aged 11. My daughter is neuro-divergent (autistic, ADHD,) as am I, (ADHD,) and my writing is often reflective of that.

I advocate for equitable systems and community for my daughter and her peers, and I believe education in advocacy is the way to achieve that.
My background is a varied one. I grew up in Wales. I completed my GCSE's, left school at 16, and worked as a singer in a cover band, which was was an educational experience in and of itself. I initially moved to Canada at 19 and took a two year Theatre Studies diploma course. After college I moved back to Europe where I worked as an actor in TV, theatre, and film, whenever I could, and I pulled pints behind bars, took customer service calls in call centres, and worked various office jobs whenever art wasn't paying the bills.

I returned to Canada when I was 33 years old, having moved around Britain and Europe for quite some time. Here I managed restaurants, and worked in social media before opening my own Vinyl Cafe in Red Deer, Alberta. I sold records, food, drinks, and I hosted live music events. I was running this operation solo. When the world stopped in March 2020 I decided to take the opportunity to reflect on every aspect of my life. I had been running on auto-pilot for so long that this was the perfect opportunity for me to decide if I was enjoying my day to day existence, and think about how I could improve things. I liquidated the business, and returned to school in Sept 2021. I completed my undergrad degree in 2023, and I am now on my masters journey.

I chose Interdisciplinary Studies as it is my hope to utilize my life experience alongside academia to create a blog, book, and podcast on neurodivergence in women.

I work as a copywriter, I live in Edmonton with my daughter. I am an accessibility advocate. I enjoy painting water-colours, going to the theatre, and I love movies, good food, and good wine.
